Homestead Comfort, located in Ellington, CT has an opening for an INSULATION-WEATHERIZATION Technician. This person should possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment along with a high degree of integrity, the ability to analyze a variety of problems and work independently. This position requires mature judgment and initiative. Time management and organizational skills are important.
Pay Scale: Depends on Experience
Full-time Position
Work Hours: 7:00 am-3:30 pm or when the job is finished. overtime as needed
Primary Job Function: INSULATE and WEATHERIZE homes and/or apartments for utility programs and weatherization agencies to reduce consumer’s energy bills. Perform energy conservation measures such as duct sealing, weather stripping, or insulation installation in homes or apartments.
Required Qualifications:
Valid CT driver's license and a clean driving record
Ability to carry 50 lbs., climb a 20-foot ladder and work in tight spaces such as attics or crawl spaces which are often hot or cold
Good communication skills both oral and written
Good work ethic
Good basic math skills
Reliable transportation
A basic set of hand tools, including a portable drill
Skilled craftsmanship, neat work habits, quality approach to work
Reliability, good interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Certification from BPI
Experience with construction and diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of air distribution, home performance issues, and building science are a plus
Interest in and experience with energy conservation measures such as duct sealing, weather stripping, experience with construction are a plus
Experience with the installation of all types of insulation; including but not limited to Fiber-Glass Batt insulation/ Blown-in Cellulose and or Blown-in Fiber-Glass insulation in homes or apartments a plus.
Leaders must have the ability to assume responsibility for projects and delegate work to one or more helpers.
