In November 2015, I was on the hunt for a black hutch but didn't want to spend thousands of dollars. So I decided to paint one myself! When my husband saw the finished product, we decided to try our hand at ''flipping'' a hutch. Our first flip sold within hours of posting it, and the rest is history. Over 175 pieces of furniture flipped in 3.5 years part-time (I worked full-time as a dental assistant) - it was time to look for a space to open a retail business!
We opened the doors to Primitive Renditions on April 5, 2019, and quickly expanded our offering. The core of the business continues to be painted furniture, though more than half of that comes from customers bringing us their furniture to refinish. Our love for primitive and our desire to help others has helped shape our business, where we offer a variety of unique and locally handmade items! In September 2019, I was able to quit my job of 25+ years and focus on my passion! Owning my own business and being my own boss has allowed me the flexibility to participate in school functions with our 8-year-old daughter Lilah, many of which I missed while working for someone else.
