The Legacy Continues...
In 1948 Merlyn ( Slim ) and Earl Welch came to Connecticut from the mountains of New Hampshire and founded Welch Roofing. In the early 60’s Merlyn moved to Georgia, and Earl successfully ran The Welch Roofing Company. Throughout the 60’s Earl had help from his brothers Carol, Kenneth, Alan, Bernie, Max and Earl's sons Larry and Joseph.
In 1986 Bernie Welch, who owned Bernie’s Roofing and Siding Inc., purchased The Welch Roofing Co. Bernie successfully ran Welch Roofing for many years and Earl stayed until he retired. Eventually Bernie’s children Scott and Jeni joined the business. Most recently the company was under the leadership of Jeni (President) and long time employee Gene Swan (Vice President).
In April 2007, David Welch, a nephew of Bernie, purchased The Welch Roofing Company. Dave began his roofing career as a teenager working summers for Bernie’s Roofing and Siding. After high school, Dave enlisted in the US Army where he received several awards of merit and was Honorably Discharged in 1986.
Dave returned to Connecticut and grew from roofer, to foreman, to contractor. In the early 90’s he created a residential department for Dzen Roofing, and in 1994 formed Welch Enterprises Inc. with his father and brother until 2006. Under that company Dave focused primarily on administration and growing the roofing, vinyl & fibercement siding, windows, and carpentry sides of the business. In 2000, Dave formed a software company to market and nationally distribute an estimating program he helped create and develop called ConTracker E Z.
